We have many unique features here at Maggy’s Wood, including Wall Art. The old barn, that is now “The Loft” features The Old Head of Kinsale.

By looking out the window of The Loft you can see the lighthouse. During the rebuild we decided to create it as part of the house. The talented daughter Kate sculpted this and another piece here at Maggy’s Wood bringing history and tradition to modern surroundings.

Just a 10min drive from the Cottage, the Life Boat Inn is a great spot to sit down and enjoy a delicious dinner, with family or friends. We hadn’t been here in a moment and can say it has been one of the best dinners we’ve had in a good while and can always recommend @the_lads_from_the_lifeboat 👏🏻

It was fantastic. The service was great, the interior is stunning and the food was delicious!

- Roaring Bay Mussels with homemade Soda Bread
- Beetroot & Macroom Ricotta Salad

Today, we’re taking a drive over to Courtmacsherry, a beautiful village by the seaside with stunning views and amazing food. Only 10 mins from the Cottage. Even the drive down is beautiful.

We arrived around 10am on a sunny day at low tide. It was quiet, calm and amazing to walk by the shore to enjoy the view and explore the surroundings. A perfect morning to recharge.

We will be back to try out the restaurants, and hikes and share the experience. But for now, enjoy some impressions of a sunny day here in Courtmac. ☀️

Why is this place called Maggy’s Wood. Owner Tom gives an insight of why we decided to call it that.

We found many treasures during the build and one of them was little boys shoes. Tom made it his task to find out more about the history of this beautiful old farmhouse and found out that 3 Margaret’s lived here.

Only two of them got to live a longer life. But this is to honour them and to cherish their memories.
