Tom Crowley has always had a keen interest in old buildings. He says “old buildings are much more interesting that new ones. When I'm in an old derelict building I close my eyes and imagine what that building was like in its heyday and the people that lived and worked there. I'm transported back in time to births, deaths, wakes, station masses, arguments, sad farewells, music, love making, hard work, children playing and everything else that life entailed back then. I think of the people who built these houses and the raw materials they used all sourced locally, stone, mud mortar, timber, tatch, slate and so on. Time wasn't such a factor in the old days if something took 10 years to build well thats how long it took.” Tom has a passion for trying to rescue these buildings and over the years has taken on a lot of similar projects, made mistakes and learned lots on the way.
